Bill Fox, CAI, Chairman & CEO
BILL FOX is known throughout the world as a leading force in the auction industry. Before launching Fox Commercial Auctions, he co-founded and was chairman of GoIndustry-DoveBid, plc, a publicly owned company listed on the London Stock Exchange and the parent company of Baltimore-based Michael Fox International, Inc., one of the nation's largest real estate and machinery auction companies. A sought after speaker at auction and real estate industry association meetings, Fox served on the teaching faculty of the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) program at Indiana University for over 20 years. He is a charter member of the CAI, a past member of the Board of Directors of the NAA, a past president and chairman of the Board of the Auction Marketing Institute, a past president of the Auctioneers Association of Maryland, and a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NAA Education Institute. In 2007, he was elected to the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame for his contributions to the industry. Fox is also a lawyer, licensed real estate broker and co-author of the book, SOLD! The Professional's Guide to Real Estate Auctions, and has published numerous articles on the auction method of marketing.
Gilbert Schwartzman, Executive Vice-President
Mr. Schwartzman began his career in the auction industry over 35 years ago. He was a key element in growing a small, local auction firm into a large international company that eventually became a publically traded entity. Mr. Schwartzman began his auction career as a project manager and soon became an accomplished auctioneer, selling real estate and machinery throughout the United States. With the knowledge garnered from his four bachelors and master’s degrees in psychology, accounting, and business, he has served as Director of Operations, Director of Appraisals, Senior Vice President, CFO and General Manager in the industry, while maintaining responsibilities as senior salesperson and senior auctioneer in every professional role.
During his tenure in the auction industry, Mr. Schwartzman has sold thousands of commercial, industrial and residential properties and conducted machinery auctions throughout the United States. He has qualified as an expert witness in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and has served secured creditors, banks, attorneys, trustees, private corporations, and consultants. Mr. Schwartzman is also a licensed Maryland real estate salesperson.
Jerry Silverman, Managing Director, Business Development
Jerry grew up in the real estate business working for his father, Murray Silverman, a commercial developer in the metro Washington DC area. He is a RE/MAX® Realtor licensed in MD and DC. Over the course of his career Jerry has sold thousands of properties ranging from motels, shopping centers, multi-family, office, residential, churches and more. He is a multiple recipient of the RE/MAX® platinum award and a member of the RE/MAX® Hall of Fame.
During the period 1994-2000, he was a founding partner and managing director of ACS Sports, which produced television and web content and sold advertising and sponsorships for the sports and entertainment industries. Jerry personally developed strategic relationships and joint ventures with more than thirty professional sports teams and leagues, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, MLB, NBA, the Women’s’ Tennis Association, NBC, the MSG Network, Comcast SportsNet and CBS Radio. In partnership with these sports and media organizations, he created precedent-setting advertising and marketing deals with Fortune 500 companies such as Verizon and Microsoft.
